My name is Andrew, my nickname is Stitchmind, which is based off the idea that my passion for art is what mends the holes in my head. I am a renegade artist, illustrator, and designer who lives in California. My work has been sold and exhibited internationally around California and Canada. I have been pursuing a creative life since a very young age and enjoy spending my time thinking of clever new things to make by experimenting with new mediums, both practical and impractical. While I try to keep a broad range of styles and themes. The majority of my personal work revolves around emotional balance. Many of the characters and creatures I draw are manifestations of strong emotions both malignant and benign. I am trying to communicate the idea that perhaps the key to controlling one’s own life and protecting it from the chaos and unfairness we often feel attacked by is to fully accept the existence of negative things by overcoming the blind optimism we use to avoid life’s tragedies. I am inspired by many things, but one of the things I am most fond of is the idea of animation in the inanimate. I like the idea of things like puppets, dolls, and mannequins because it represents how people are trying to breath life into that which never had life in the first place. This ties in well with my artistic message. Thank you for visiting my site, Feel free to have a look at my wide range of work and do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions (I am busy but I will answer them eventually). |
